Tyre mounting & dismounting instructions

Dismounting

1. Remove the tyre and wheel from the vehicle.

2. Deflate the tyre completely.

   • Never try to unseat the beads of an inflated tyre.
   • Use tools that will not damage the rim or the tyre beads.

3. Lubricate both beads completely.

4. Push the bead off the bead seat of the wheel using appropriate tools.

5. Unseat the first bead completely, then the second, from the wheel.

   • Finish dismounting the bead, working away from the valve.

Mounting

1. Make sure the rim and the tyre are compatible, following the manufacturer's instructions.

2. The rim must be clean and undamaged.

   • Never mount a tyre to a cracked, smashed, deformed or repaired/welded rim.
   • Clean off any material that could harm the tyre, such as oil, dust or dirt.

3. Lubricate the beads and rim.

4. Make sure the inflation air is moisture free.

   • Pry the first and second bead over the rim flange one by one.

5. Turn the assembly and inflate to no more than 5 psi to seat the beads, then complete the inflation process using a safety cage.

6. Follow any information on the sidewall regarding rotation direction or the outer side, if stated.

How to inflate a tyre

• Keep your distance for your safety.
• Use an inflation cage, mounted to the wall or ground, where available.
• Do not exceed the recommended inflation pressure.
• Use a moisture and dirt filter on the pressurised airline to prevent moisture or dirt entering the tyre.
• Do not exceed the recommended inflation pressure while seating the bead. Stop the process if the bead does not seat correctly.

Tyre inflation pressure

Tyre inflation pressure is very important, because every tyre's load capacity, durability, traction and handling depend on using the right pressure for the application. Inflation pressure is set by the vehicle manufacturer, and you can find the correct values in the vehicle owner's manual or on the vehicle's tyre information placard. These sources also give the vehicle's maximum load capacity, cold tyre pressure and recommended tyre size.

The inflation pressure shown on the sidewall is the maximum pressure of the tyre. Always use the recommended pressure for your vehicle. Check the pressure, including the spare, at least once a month and before every long trip. You can use an air pressure gauge, or take your vehicle to a nearby service centre or fuel station, then compare the reading against the owner's manual or placard.

• If you measure a higher pressure, deflate the tyre to the recommended pressure.
• If you measure a lower pressure, inflate the tyre to the recommended pressure.
